AS Bill C-46 came to effect in December 2018, the maximum penalty for impaired driving offence (either from alcohol or cannabis ) has been raised from 7 to 10 years under the Criminal Code. This could lead permanent residents to lose their status in Canada under s. 36 (1) of IRPA. We take care of the appeal process after our clients are convicted in the criminal court and issued the deportation order to leave Canada.
